Hi … I've been humming songs since I first learned to make a sound…and I'm sure there are others that recognise its something some are born with.
As for writing songs I've been doing that on and off since about 1967 although from the late 80's and through the 90's I had virtually given it up…… Now since 1999 I have spent a great deal of time writing and recording…much more so than ever before.
I very rarely perform at all as getting around can be something of a problem.
In the 70's/80's I wrote quite a lot based on trying to get a commercial pop record deal…but that never happened and probably because it wasn't really the music that I felt that much connected to
Folk/Country with a sometimes added alternative rock feel is much more what I feel brings out what I like to both express and share
I now have an enormous amount of unrecorded material that I need to get down and onto albums so hopefully I'm going to keep Phils studio pretty busy….. The other project I hope to get off the ground shortly involves a couple of songs I've written for charity promotion…one hopefully destined for Save The Children/NSPCC type campaigns, and demo'd by the brilliant Emma King and the Heartsets, and another for the ongoing Darfur tragedy……. I'm sure many musicians would agree that one of the most rewarding things about writing and recording music is the opportunity to share and to give something back.
I hope you like what you hear and there's plenty more to come
